In honor of the impending release of Coach Geaux Tigahs...some random thoughts about the SEC this week. We start in...Nashville.
The toughest coaching job in America, or at least in the Power Five is Vanderbilt. I think they need to decide if they truly want to be competitive in the SEC across the board. I realize they are an academic giant, but looking at it from a sporting view they are so over matched. The question may become if the SEC wants to hold on to the Nashville media market enough to keep them or expand to another area.
In Baton Rouge, LSU looks to move on from Orgeron. Give the guy some credit- he did win a natty. But the off field stuff led to his demise for sure. Names to look for in the head coaching search: Joe Brady (my pick), Lane Kiffin, Mel Tucker (maybe the favorite), and Luke Fickell.
Raise your hand if you thought the Cats would be 6-1 right now. Anyone? I did. I have an article to prove it. 11-1 is still on the table. If they pull it off, the Cats are at least in the New Year Six games or possibly the playoffs depending on the chaos in the polls in front of them. What a time to be alive.
The UK basketball team (remember them?) open at #10 in the AP Polls. They're gonna be really good. Like Final Four good. They have it all- size, speed, shooters, depth and defenders.
Georgia might be a 10-14 favorite to win over Alabama if the two meet in the SEC Championship (pretty much a given.) They are simply dominant.
Thought- Who brings a bottle of mustard to a football game?
